Myofascial Therapy in El Campo

Need to get rid of persistent tightness and pain in your body? Get myofascial therapy in El Campo from Renew Spine & Rehab. Our practitioner is trained to provide gentle and safe treatment to relieve mild to chronic pain without needing surgery or pain medications.

What Is Myofascial Therapy?

It’s a manual treatment method in which the practitioner checks for tightness around a muscle area and applies pressure. The therapy aims to release tension in the fascial tissues by finding trigger points that cause pain and stiffness, mainly in the back and neck area.

Your fascia is a thin tissue that surrounds your muscles. Like your skin, the fascia connects to different muscle areas. If the fascia suffers trauma, it causes pain and rigidity which limits the motion range of your joint and your muscles. Therapy helps soften the tissue and alleviate pain.

Also called Myofascial release therapy, our team offers this treatment modality as part of a broader soft tissue therapy in El Campo. We include it in your treatment plan to relieve mild to chronic muscle pain and improve your mobility.

What to Expect During a Myofascial Therapy Session

Our fascia release therapy finds the trigger points that cause pain and discomfort and applies enough pressure to release tension. It’s a calm and noninvasive procedure that involves light to moderate pressure and sustained stretching.

  • Assessment: Practitioners will have you stand still or lie prone on a table to assess your overall posture. They will scan for misalignments and stiffness, usually in your back, hip, and neck muscles.
  • Applying pressure: Using hands, elbows, and other tools, the practitioner will gently apply pressure on the affected area and hold it for several minutes before releasing it.
  • Stretching: After applying pressure, the practitioner may follow it up with mild stretches of your fascial muscles, holding it for several minutes and releasing it afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Unlike a typical massage, myofascial therapy involves applying sustained pressure to certain areas of the body and then releasing them.

Anyone who feels tightness in their muscles that’s causing discomfort and pain can benefit from the treatment.

It mostly feels calming. Depending on the case, patients may feel discomfort, such as softening tight knots. Overall, the session is tolerable.

It varies depending on the case. But we advise you consult with our practitioners first so we can better assess your condition and design a treatment plan suited to you.

It is generally safe for people experiencing chronic pain. A trained professional performs the treatment and keeps the process secure. However, it’s still important to consult your doctor for any preexisting conditions that could pose a risk.

What Our Patients Say

Everyone is kind, knowledgeable, caring, and understanding. I am not an easy case. I have been in chiropractic care since I was 13. I was having headaches, and my mom took me to the dentist and eye doctor, tried everything, and we ended up with the chiropractor. Years later, I learned my hips were uneven, and the s curve in my spine was not there, not scoliosis, but not the way it should be. I also have TMD, which is called TMJ. Dr. Benson is treating all this and my new arthritis problems that affected my entire left leg and took the strength from my thigh muscle. My body is writhing in pain. However, he and his team are working to calm the pain and heal my body- the best part is that my insurance covers it.

Dr. Benson is absolutely the best! I took my husband to the ER in severe pain in his lower back. He could not move. They pumped him full of pain medication and sent him on his way, saying they could not help him. I called Dr. Benson's office while in the ER and explained the situation. I took my husband straight to his office from the ER; he could not walk, could not sit up, and was laid out in the back seat of my truck. Dr. Benson came out to my truck and helped to get him out of the truck and into one of the rooms. After working on him for about 45 minutes, he could walk out with the help of crutches and the next day was walking without them! My husband was back at work 4 days later after figuring out he had a pinched nerve and 2 more visits. I would highly recommend Dr. Benson and his entire staff to anyone that is looking for a chiropractor that really does care about his patients.

I had a hip replacement last year. I have been limping lately and quite frankly feeling crooked and having back spasms. Dr Benson and staff worked wonders the first day with massage, electric stim and spinal adjustment. The limp was less pronounced and my back pain was significantly lessened when I left. I know this is a work in progress but I feel we are on the right path forward.
