What Is Myofascial Therapy?

Myofascial therapy is a hands-on method for treating the stiffness of dense connective tissues wrapped around muscles by applying deep and direct pressure. Specific repetitive movements, a sedentary lifestyle, or injury can cause these tissues to stiffen, leading to pain in your back, neck, or limbs. Practitioners press hard on the affected area and hold it for several minutes until the tissue softens.

Renew Spine & Rehab offers myofascial therapy for mild to chronic pain relief in Katy, provided by therapists. It may be prescribed as a standalone treatment or part of a personalized chiropractic care plan that suits your condition.

What to Expect During a Myofascial Therapy Session

After searching for “myofascial therapy near me” online and selecting our clinic, our team will guide you through the following process.

Initial Assessment
Trained therapists will examine your posture for misalignments, use their hands to assess your back and neck muscles for stiffness and pain, and formulate the most effective treatment approach.
Applying pressure
Using hands and elbows, the therapist applies calculated pressure to the trigger point in the myofascial tissue and holds it for several minutes until the muscle softens.
Stretching
Practitioners may follow up by stretching and holding the fascial muscles for several minutes and releasing them once the tissue and muscle respond to the treatment.
Recommendations
After the session, you may experience warmth and soreness in the treated muscles. To help alleviate these sensations and promote recovery, we recommend incorporating post-session exercises and maintaining adequate hydration.
